It’s almost Halloween and you know what that means! Trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, and costumes.
But it also means that you have to go
This year, let me help you out with this easy tutorial on how to make an awesome jack o lantern pumpkin luminary using paper, wax paper, and glue.
Follow these steps in order to make your own Jack O’Lantern paper lantern for your home or porch with only two sheets of paper!
I really love the cute lantern face on it and that you don’t have to make a mess carving.
You’ll get all the details below for this Halloween project but my favorite part is it only 20 minutes to put together. That leaves more time for trick or treating with the kids :)
Happy Halloween!!

Materials:
- Free SVG Jack o Lantern Luminary SVG (Download below)
- 2 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 inch cardstock
- I used orange but black would look amazing too
- Wax paper
- Glue, Double sided tape, or my absolute favorite easy apply tape
- Scissors or paper cutter (Having a paper cutter makes things much faster and easier. I highly recommend a 12 inch one)
- Glowforge(Use this link to get up to $500 off), Silhouette, or Cricut
- Tealight candle– I really like these LED ones. They look real, unlike most other LED ones
Step 1: Cut it out
Use a Glowforge,

Step 2: Cut wax paper to 4.5″ by 6″
Use a paper cutter or scissors to cut out 4, 4.5″ by 6″ pieces of wax paper that will cover the inside for your luminary.

Step 3: Tape or glue on the wax paper
Use a tape runner(my absolute favorite) to stick the wax paper onto the jack o lantern luminary. You can also use glue or double-sided tape. Be sure to line up the wax paper perfectly before sticking it down.

Step 4: Fold at the score lines
Fold the jack o lantern luminary along the score lines on both cutouts.

Step 5: Tape or glue it together
Use a tape runner to stick the two jack o lantern sides together along the small tab. You can also use glue or double-sided tape. You will be making a rectangle.
I reworked the file after taking the pictures. There are now two small tabs along the right side. Now it doesn’t block the leaves and vines when it is taped together.

Step : Lights!
You can either put in an LED tealight or a regular tealight candle. If you use real flames, I am not responsible if you burn your house down. Just sayin’.

I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy tutorial on how to make an awesome jack o lantern luminary using paper, wax paper, and glue.
