Botanical jewelry has always been one of my favorite things to wear and these laser-cut leaf earrings are cute and very easy to make.
You can make them out of wood but they would look just as nice made out of acrylic. Make them to wear in the fall or wear them year-round.

You will need:
Necessary:
- ⅛ inch wood
- Masking Tape
- 400 Grit Sandpaper
- Laser Cutter (Get up to $500 off a Glowforge)
- Wet Paper Towel
- Credit Card
- Needle Nose Pliers
- Jump Rings
Optional:
- Paper to protect the counter from paint
- Paint
- Clear Sealer
Prep the wood for the so you can cut out the leaf earrings
Step 1
To prep the wood, sand the wood on both sides until it is smooth. Wipe it down with a damp paper towel to remove any dust.
(Optional) Step 2
Paint the wood with laser-safe paint.
(Optional) Step 3
After the paint dries, sand the wood again to make it smooth. Be sure to wipe down the wood with a damp paper towel to remove any dust. Keep painting and sanding the wood until you are happy with it.
Step 4: (Optional)
Apply a clear protective coat to the front and back of the wood.
Step 5:
Apply the masking tape to the front and back of the wood. Be sure to use a credit card or vinyl scraper to make sure it is stuck down well so no smoke gets underneath.
Cut out the Leaf Earrings
I use a Glowforge but any laser will do.
Step 6:
Set up the cut. My settings are Speed- 150 and full power
Step 7:
After the cut, remove the mask.

Step 8:
Use the needle-nose pliers to open up the jump ring.
Step 9:
Put the jump ring through the hole in the leaf.
Step 10:
Put the earring hook through the jump ring and close the jump ring.

The palm leaves would look amazing in the summer and the oak leaves would look nice in the fall.
